Nantwich Show - International Cheese Awards - July 2010
The International Cheese Awards is part of the Nantwich and South Cheshire Show. Here you can sample the finest cheeses from all over the world, see cattle, sheep and poultry being judged, horses, beautiful displays of flowers and fresh produce.
Crowds of over 30,000 turned out for this event, including trade buyers and retailers and the general public. The aisles were flooded with visitors. It was Pentic’s first time at the Nantwich Show since 1995 – (when we won First Prize in the Trade Stand Competition).
The group of large marquees was home for the International Cheese Show, it was an ideal place to enter for those trying to avoid the intermittent showers throughout the day. There was a fantastic range of cheese on display with over 3,000 entries in the cheese awards.
Our Pentic stand was of great interest to people passing by - I saw many children standing wide eyed with curiosity when they saw tickets and stands on display. I spoke to customers who owned delis, confectionary stores, cafes, bars, restaurants, farmers/farm shops, butchers, cheese producers & distributors.
One of our most popular products at the show was our mixed range of PT50 range of holders – which work well with cheese and deli products. Along with this, our personalised tickets were of great interest, feedback being the flexibility of the system, along with the opportunity to include branding/logos and they are waterproof waterproof!
As well as the exhibiting categories, the show featured dance performances from the UK’s leading junior ballroom dancers, Celebrity Chef Richard Fox was cooking in the Cheshire East Pavilion as part of the council’s Love Food, Hate Waste campaign and actor John Pickard, of Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, was signing autographs after judging the winner of the Cheese Lovers’ Trophy.
It was a great show with a buzz……..and great cheese!
It seems only fitting that the first story here is our Pentic re-launch party! As many of you may know, Pentic is a name that is well known within the food industry, supplying personalised tickets and counter displays to supermarkets and independant retailers alike. As proud as we are to have built a solid brand that our customers trust, we felt that after over 50 years it really was time for a bit of a change!
We started with this brand new e-commerce website, allowing customers for the first time ever to purchase our products on-line. Hopefully you’ll still recognise our logo, but I think you’ll find the look and feel of the website is a complete departure from our past style. In addition to our fresh, new look website, we now also have a presence within the world of social networking and we invite you to now ‘like’ and ‘follow’ us. We’re hoping this will all help to finally propel us into the 21st century!
So we invited some of our Pentic friends along to raise a glass and eat a cake in honour of a sparkly new beginning.....
